Belfast Your Turn Programme

Three pupils from Castle High will be taking part in the Your Turn Programme.  The Your Turn Programme, which will run for 3 days, is a great opportunity to meet new people, share views, make a difference to the community and to be involved with decisions.  It also helps to learn about the way local area's are run, with all the rules we complain about, to ask why there were introduced and maybe influence people who can make a change.  The themes of the programme are Power and Change, the first two days will explore different types of power in many different areas of our lives, and day three will investigate how people can use their power to make a difference in the comminuty.

The Aims and Objectives of the programme are to enable young people to develop as young leaders in their communities, to give young people a deeper understanding of how their community works, allowyoung people to appreciate their cities diversity and strengths and to provide young people with an opportunity to understand decision making processes.

Highlights of the programme will include Team Building exercises, a tour of Queens University, a visit to the Rainbow Factory in College Square North to learn what its all about, a visit to Bankmore Street Fire Station which will look at leadership and decision-making, a tour of the Northern Ireland Assembly and much much more!
