Castle High School Education Exchange Programme
Castle High School is taking part in an Education Exchange Programme with Margaret Aylward Community College in Dublin. The aim of the programme is to promote long term relationships between schools in Belfast and Dublin.
On Wednesday 5th March 24 pupils and 4 staff from Margaret Aylward Community College in Dublin visited Castle High School. The visitors joined year 8 pupils from Castle High for an Ulster Fry in the school canteen. Both schools then visited the Ulster Folk & Transport Museum in Cultra where they studied aspects of their joint heritage.
The project is helping to bring together young people from Belfast and Dublin. Castle High pupils are enjoying meeting pupils from Margaret Aylward Community College and having a chance to show off their city. They are developing confidence, social skills and respect for others as well as learning about life in another city.
In April, Castle High pupils are making a return visit to Margaret Aylward Community College and hopefully both schools will visit Dublin Zoo. There may also be an opportunity for a joint residential later in the year where pupils have the chance to develop leadership and team building skills through a programme of outdoor activities.
