COURSE CONTENT

You will study

 

Areas of Fine Art and Design in a range of materials/media in 2 dimensions and 3 dimensions.

 

Within each area you will combine knowledge, skills and understanding to:

  • Record from direct observations, experiences, ideas and imagination in forms that are appropriate to intentions
  • Analyse and evaluate images, objects and artefacts showing understanding of context.
  • Investigate and develop ideas using a range of media, processes, visual and other resources, reviewing, modifying and refining work as it progresses.
  • Present a personal response, realising intentions and making informed connections with the work of others.

ASSESSMENT

  • PART 1: Coursework - 2 units of work                60%

       1 Unit: Fine Art, 2D or 3D

       1 Unit Design 2D or 3D

  • PART 2: Externally set assignment                      40%

 

EXAMINATIONS

For Part 2, the externally set assignment, you will be given 5-6 weeks preparation time followed by a supervised examination of 10 hours 30 minutes in length. This normally takes place in March of year 12.

 

COURSEWORK

You must complete 2 units of coursework showing evidence of the 4 main assessment objectives. The coursework your ability to create a Design Outcome and a Fine Art Outcome. One of these outcomes should be 2 dimensional and the other 3 dimensional.
