COURSE CONTENT
You will study 6 modules:
- Module 1: Staying Alive
- Module 2: Human Activity and Health
- Module 3: Chemical Patterns and our Environment
- Module 4: Materials and their Management
- Module 5: Electricity, Waves and Communication
- Module 6: Road Safety, Radioactivity and Earth in Space
ASSESSMENT
6 External Modular Exams 72%
Internal Assessment of a Practical Investigation 28%
EXAMINATIONS
You will sit 6 module tests in total, each comprising of approximately 8 questions worth 45 marks.
You will sit:
Module 1, 3 and 5 is tested in Year 11.
Modules 2, 4 and 6 are tested in Year 12.
Examined in November, March and May
This examination is a two tier entry examination: Foundation and Intermediate level.
COURSEWORK
The coursework is based on the experimental work carried out in Science at Key Stage 4. You will be assessed on:
- Obtaining Evidence
- Interpreting and evaluation of the evidence
- These will be assessed as part of the normal classroom routine.
